Oregon black walnut slab dining table with blackened oak pedestal base featuring geometric line art carved into and wrapping the surface. Custom built for a residential client in Denver, Colorado.
The walnut top maintains the original “Y” shape of the slab, but removes the free edge in order to meet size constraints. The organic edge above the crotch was maintained and contrasted by custom composition of patchwork used to stabilize minor cracking.
Slab sourced from Goby Walnut in Oregon. Surfacing assistance from Joinery Structures in West Oakland. Custom water-jet cut steel mounting plates from Standard Metal Products in San Francisco.
